I’ve wanted to read Ted Dekker for some time. I recently completed his young adult fantasy novel Chosen. Set in a world decimated by evil, “a world totally like our own, yet completely different.” Johnis and three others who are sixteen or seventeen years of age are new recruits to the Forest Guard The Guard protects their precious forest from the Horde — diseased people, living in the desert and controlled by evil. The commander chooses Johnis for a special mission.
However, Johnis and his companions are redirected to another mission. They must find seven books with immense power over the past, present and future before the Dark One gathers them. These books control “not only the destiny of their world . . . but that of ours as well.”
Dekker is a New York Times and international bestselling author of over 40 novels. Dekker explores “truth through mind-bending stories that invite readers to see the world through a different lens.” Born to missionaries in Indonesia, he grew up using imagination to invent a world where he belonged. Following college, a stint in the corporate world and various entrepreneurial pursuits, he began writing novels.
I enjoyed Chosen and plan to read others in the series. However, I didn’t realize the book started a spin-off series from Dekker’s Circle series. That will be next on my Ted Dekker wish list.
Sounds like a good one.
I have started his novel Black. It is even better.
