While researching my next project about an early Iron Age warrior, I read In the Footsteps of King David, Revelations From An Ancient Biblical City by Yosef Garfinkel, Saar Ganor and Michael G. Hasel. The book provides findings from seven years of excavation at Khirbet Qeiyafa in Israel. The site is located in the valley where David slew Goliath. It was a Judean settlement in the early Iron Age when Saul and David fought the Philistines.
The book describes the discoveries and includes photos and illustrations. It includes information on inscriptions, city planning, cooking utensils, pottery, weapons and worship objects found at the site.
This book provides valuable insights into the culture of Judah as the nation transitioned from tribal villages to a centralized government.
