I cranked out a new flash fiction story today. I will be publishing the next issue of the newsletter this week or next. I’m excited about the flash fiction piece. I decided to do something historical from the point of view of a child. I’ll be interested in reactions. Don’t miss it. Subscribe now.
My blog and newsletter have suffered due to a busy schedule and the priority of roughing in the chapters of the Warrior project. Some of my chapters are rougher than others. Always that way at this point. I was surprised to realize chapter 21 was my focus today. I have 38 plotted. Things should be in good shape by Christmas! The goal is to have a finished manuscript ready by mid-March. I devote the first two hours of the day to writing. My goal is to start at 7 a.m. on weekdays. (Actually, I usually start somewhere between 7:15 and 7:30. I’m spending too much time drinking coffee and reading the news.)
I’ve thought writing is like sculpting a block of marble. You start with an idea. You hammer away and the chips fly until a rough shape emerges. Then you refine and polish. I am definitely at the hammering stage. But today I stepped back and saw the beginnings of the rough shape. [smile]
Sounds good. I enjoyed reading your post.
Thanks, Annabelle!
So exciting to anticipate the finished work!
Keep chiseling! The “shape” will be worth the effort.
